Week in Review:
Math:
We started our chapter on Algebra. In this chapter, your child will be introduced to algebra. Some of the skills your child will practice are:
* recognizing, writing, evaluating, and simplifying algebraic expressions.
* solving simple equations
* solving real-world problems involving algebraic expressions
Reading:
The students worked hard on their reading posters and turned them in yesterday. I enjoyed reading about the books they read during the play. I will be sharing comments about their posters in their report cards and discussing them with each student in the upcoming week. Please take a moment when you're on campus to stop by the hallway to take a look. We have some amazing readers and writers in our classroom!
The students should continue reading independently and record their reading on their "Reading Logs." They will be responsible for turning in two more reading logs by the end of the school year. Their minimum required reading goal is 200 pages for 10 days.
Science:
Our unit on Human Development is underway and will finish up next Thursday. We've had some great conversations and questions during our discussions. Please take a moment to ask your child about what they're learning.
Robotics:
We finished building and programing our robots in Robotics on Thursday. Many students created programs that allowed their robots to move by using sound and motion sensors. Some modified them to be able to climb hills and move fast! I am amazed at what incredible engineers and programmers they are!
