It was wonderful to see you at conference this week. I find our fifth grade spring conferences a wonderful way for students to reflect on the year, their many accomplishments and the areas in which they recognize a need for growth. Their ability to be self- reflective about themselves as learners is remarkable. Thank you all for being present and supportive of your fantastic children.

February Reading Logs are due MONDAY, March 3rd. I will hand out a March reading logs on Monday, however with a shorten requirement of 200 pages read between March 3rd and Spring Break. PLEASE remember that nighty reading (20-30 minutes) is a requirement!

Play parts will be announced to the entire fifth grade on March 12. This is an exciting day, students have worked hard to addition for the parts they are interested in and Cynthia has put a huge amount of time, thought and care into casting the fifth graders. While there are bound to be some disappointments, overall this is a much anticipated and exciting announcement. We ask that you help support your child through any moments of disappointment, if they did not get the part that they really wanted. This is all an important part of the learning process. Each year students remark about the amazing experience that the fifth grade play is and even if they did not get their first choice role, the loved every minute.

Swim Week is March 10-14. Fifth graders will be swimming in the afternoon, departing HC right after lunch at 1:05 and returning to school at 3:00. Please make sure your children are coming to school each day with their bathing suit and a towel.
