The Countdown Is On!

Exciting things happening in 5th grade!

What an adventure we had on Monday!  Our field trip to the U of M was a soggy one, but full of fun and learning about energy.  It was an excellent review of what we learned in the fall. There were explosions, fire, and even dancing.  Unfortunately, it was pouring rain when we left the U of M,  and we had to walk a few blocks to our bus. We managed to get soaked, some more than others.  When we returned to school, we changed into our dry, gym uniforms, and headed to lunch. The 5th graders didn't even complain!  I was very impressed.

Math continues to be an adventure too as we tackle Algebra.  I keep reminding the students that Algebra is difficult and it's ok if they're all at different places.  Our goal is to expose the students to Algebra and for them to feel confident about their work. I am impressed with their mathematical thinking and learning!

What's happening next week:

*  Tuesday, May 27th: Jeanette Gadeberg and Jay Dean, from the Middle School, will be             visiting our classroom to talk to the students about Middle School.

*  Thursday, May 29th: Olympic Day (If you are taking your child home from Olympic Day,         please check in with me before you leave.  Therefore, I can make sure everyone is               accounted for before we board the bus to the Highcroft Campus.)

I hope you have a wonderful, relaxing, long weekend!  Enjoy the sun and warmer weather!  I look forward to seeing you at Olympic Day! ~Beth
